As a successful Maintenance Engineer you will be working within a chemical manufacturing environment and will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair and testing of all mechanical and electrical equipment.

Your new role as a Maintenance Engineer;

  • To install, commission, maintain, repair and test mechanical equipment and electrical / electronic, instrumentation and control equipment in accordance with manufacturers' instructions and company engineering and safety instructions.
  • To assist to the limit of your ability in whatever capacity is required to achieve the objectives of the engineering team.
  • To order parts, services and consumables and maintain adequate stock levels in stores.
  • To liaise with other departments, particularly by informing the Production Supervisor / Team Leader of the intention to start work in each area and keeping the Production Supervisor / Team Leader aware of the status of any job.
  • To report faults on equipment to the Maintenance and Production Supervisors.
  • To keep the area associated with your activities clean and tidy and help sustain/implement 5S strategy
  • To comply with the Company Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • To follow safety instructions accurately and to comply with the Company Health and Safety at Work Policy.
  • Other duties, as required by the company

What you will need to succeed as a Maintenance Engineer;

  • Experience in the maintenance of process equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment (typical equipment may include pumps, fans, gearboxes, conveyors, mixers, hydraulics and pneumatics along with experience in the maintenance of single/three phase motor control systems, including fault finding)
  • Time served engineering apprenticeship with City & Guilds qualifications or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • GCSE Mathematics Grade C or above.
  • Demonstrate good numeracy and literacy skills especially accurate measuring skills.
  • IT Literate
  • Ability to work independently on own initiative
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holiday periods and call-outs as and when required
  • Fluent English speaker
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
