Salary: £50,000 to £60,000 negotiable plus car or car allowance and benefits

Our client is the largest aggregate bituminous coated materials, sand, ready mixed concrete, concrete products and roof tile manufacturer in Northern Ireland. Their portfolio of products and services also extends to roofing contracts, civil engineering and road surfacing projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and embedding the highest standards of Health, Safety and Environmental performance throughout the business.

You will advise, guide and support multiple construction and production sites on all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental ensuring all sites operate in a safe and efficient manner.

As a Head of Health & Safety and Environment you will have responsibilities for the following;

  • You will lead a relatively small management team working with the Senior Management Team in the development of strategies and policies and in implementing best practice procedures, education, monitoring and reporting of Health, Safety and Environmental matters.
  • You will lead in the engagement with other stakeholders and in preparation of tender responses.
  • You will be responsible for managing the Health, Safety and Environmental Systems.
  • Prepare and delivery, Health, Safety & Environmental training courses/presentations.
  • Lead in assessing and approving contractors and sub-contractors.
  • Engage all the workforce to embed Health, Safety & Environmental best practice.

As a Head of Health & Safety and Environment:

  • You ideally be a chartered member of IOSH and educated to degree level.
  • You will have at least 5 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within the Construction, Building Materials or Quarrying sector.
  • You will have experience of managing a team.
  • You should have previous experience of Environmental management.
