Facilities / Utilities and Project Manager Within a Pharma Manufacturing Firm

Location: Site is on the very outskirts of Dublin, beyond Blanchardstown

The package on offer:

€80k to €120K basic - depending on the level of relevant experience

+ Up to 14% bonus

The company and role overview:

Large international privately owned state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing plant with a site that employs around 190 staff. The position will be responsible for all aspects of Utilities, Facilities, Projects, CAPEX, Automation and Site Security. The role will be key to the development of the site's potent manufacturing capabilities including high containment and niche product innovation and flexibility. The remit includes driving the facility's sustainability programme through the implementation of carbon reducing projects and policies. The successful person will be responsible for a Facilities Engineer, Facilities Technician, 2-3 Project Engineers, an Engineering Student.

The role of Facilities / Utilities and Project Manager

  • Recruitment & selection, training and development, and performance management of staff.
  • Planning, organising, directing and controlling activities within the job function function in order to meet defined company, plant and engineering objectives.
  • Managing the facilities / utilities and project budget to include the assembly of yearly budgets, adhering to budgets, instigating cost improvement projects to reduce budget spend and management of the capital expenditure programme for the Plant.
  • Management of all internal and external construction projects.
  • Leading CAPEX and major site projects including site building and modifications, equipment design and installation.
  • Inputting and driving a 5 year site plan in terms of Engineering strategy and support.
  • Working with QA to develop the area of automation including the embedding of track and trace systems within the plant and compliance to data integrity
  • Ensuring all engineering work and designs are carried out to appropriate GMP standards (HPRA and FDA amongst others) and current Environmental Health and Safety Standards and Legislation
  • Initiating and promoting cross functional partnerships to ensure the Plant Team consisting of Internal Manufacturing, Technical Affairs and EHS are working together effectively to meet plant objectives - In particular working closely with Internal Manufacturing to ensure customer delivery targets are met.
  • Managing all facilities and utilities systems including facilities calibrations, facilities preventative maintenance, change controls and KPI indicators
  • Driving site sustainability programmes in relation to facilities and utilities and the reduction of the site carbon footprint
  • Researching and introducing new technology and approaches to enhance efficiency and safety
  • Reporting on departmental performance
  • Managing engineering activities to provide a high level of service with minimum disruption to business operations.
  • Leading the team in process designs, development, continuous improvement and any engineering aspects of technology transfer projects from other sites or building projects

Essential Criteria for the Facilities / Utilities and Project Manager role:

  • Minimum of 5 years' specific experience in a similar Facilities / Utilities Management role in a pharma environment, successfully managing project engineers and facilities engineers
  • Proven experience in setting up/installing new facilities systems, processes, new builds (Previous demonstrable experience of construction must be clearly evident within any CV submitted) and in the effective management of such, including continuous improvement initiatives
  • CapEx exposure and ability to work closely to budgets
  • Minimum of Level 8 BEng qualification in engineering
  • Excellent proven skills in prioritising, teamworking, communication and reporting at a senior management level
