Vickerstock are currently assisting a global leading food manufacturing client with the hire of an experienced Business Unit Leader for their Craigavon site. The Business Unit Leader will report directly to the Factory manager.

Job Overview:

The Business Unit Leader will be responsible for leading a specific team to achieve performance of the factory ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness. They will ensure company and site KPIs are achieved and high technical standards are maintained.

Job Duties
The Business Unit Leader will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Lead and drive the business unit forward - motivating and directing staff
  • Have full accountability for technical KPIs ensuring the company standards are maintained
  • Responsible for communicating and implementing all company procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental matters
  • Ensuring Shift Managers and Operations Team Leads produce products matching customer specifications
  • Drive a process to ensure full optimisation of labour utilisation
  • Monitor equipment to ensure full functionally and utilisation
  • Responsible for ensuring plans are in place to delivery peak production activities
  • Manage, lead and engage with Specialist Skills Trainers to ensure unit is fully trained and delivered
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with the HR Department on all people related matters
  • Complete Team members annual performance reviews, identifying training and development needs
  • Evaluate and implement a range of continuous improvement and lead techniques to deliver best operational functions
  • Monitor and control any negative environmental impact arising from the processes within your specific area of responsibility
  • Lead customer visits and/or audits when a Factory Tour is required
  • Attend NPD critical path meetings as a company representative
  • Carry out confirmation checks on the performance of shift start up
  • Responsible for labour standards aligning to production requirements
  • Ensure there is urgency to resolve potential issues in the event of line failure
  • Obtain full root cause analysis for any failures, outlining learning and key actions to be implemented

Criteria/Essential Experience
The Business Unit Leader must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar Management role within an FMCG Manufacturing Environment
  • Experience working to technical standards and targets
  • Proven people management experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Packages
  • CI skills and techniques
  • Experience driving and delivering a Health & Safety culture
  • Commercial and financial awareness
  • H & S and Leadership Qualifications ideal but not necessary

Hours: Rotating Shifts
